the spa was wonderful, especially the pool. the rooms were lovely. Breakfast was lovely, and the staff were friendlt
Location very near to where one of us grew up and attractive complex of buildings. Enjoyable evening meal.
Lack of privacy in ground floor room as passers by could easily look into the room. If dressing/changing it was necessary to close the curtains and switch on the light. A net curtain or venetian blind would have been a good idea.
The Spa facilities were excellent. The buildings and village atmosphere was lovely.
Due to a mix up between Booked.net and the actual reservations we experienced some problems at check in and breakfast. This was easily resolved by producing the print out of our bookings. We also felt that the bar prices were extremely high. We all thought that the breakfasts were not too good. Also after having been told that we needed to vacate our rooms by 12 noon the door keys were deactivated at 10am. We were attending a wedding at lunch time and all met at reception before leaving hoping to have a drink together to find that the bar did not open until 5pm.
check in very good, room lovely and spacious, ideal location for lovely walks, pool and spa area fab, loved the open air jaccuzi, sunday carvery in pub was very nice and excellent value for money.
television in room was very small and too low on floor to watch in bed, service in pub very slow
lovely relaxing break with great spa facilities and lovely food
some of the staff could do with being a little sharper with their customer service skills. had to ask the waiters for everything. There was one woman who they could learn from - she was fab! had to wait for breakfast - never had to do that before!
I loved the spa it was very nice and so much to choice
The bed sheets were smelly very haeavy horrible smell. I will go again buyt bring my own pillows
We had a bad nights sleep, my wife complained about the bed, on checking the bed we found an old door under neath the mattres
Away from city in own little village.
Bar and Tea Room prices where high, taking advantage of monopoly due to location.
My wife and I had a very relaxing week end at this hotel which was extremely comfortable, with attentive staff and we plan on returning for more week end breaks in the future.
Booked this hotel before a wedding locally in Bolton. Spa was lovely and staff in both hotel and spa were great. Breakfast was lovely also - they even provide soya milk!
The pool and spa complex were excellent and very relaxing.
Rooms tired, needs modernisation, very poor selection of drinks and snacks at the expensive bar, 'pub' noisy and unwelcoming.
Friendly and informative reception, all staff were helpful, lovely spa, good breakfast and pleasant and relaxing environment.
bathroom was fine and clean but could be updated, eg flooring and curtains, and perhaps more tea and milk
Nice atmosphere, helpful staff
I did not like them holding £150 in my bank account which two days after leaving the hotel still has not been released. The room key also stopped working each day necessitating walking back down three floors to reception to have it corrected
Staff were lovely. Very friendly and they gave me a really nice, big room. They were kind to my two little dogs and there were lots of walks nearby. Breakfast was really good and the serving staff friendly, courteous and kind. This was my second stay and I will stay again. Thank you.
Too few bins for scooping after dogs (I had to use big skip in utility area) and Spa was out of order. But neither of these things spoiled my stay.
We felt the hotel was a bit dated, in fact when we checked in, another couple were checking in at the same time who had stayed at the hotel 30 years ago and the receptionist replied that she doubted that there had been any changes since their first visit! The drinks were overpriced and we found a local pub to eat at as the menu seemed expensive.
